Your Impact:

  • Serve as lead engineer on roadway design and transportation projects

  • Prepare roadway and drainage designs according to DOT and municipal design criteria

  • Design and review roadway elements such as: horizontal and vertical alignments, intersections, interchanges, pavements, storm and sanitary sewers, waterlines, erosion control.

  • Prepare reports, plans, calculations, estimates and designs for transportation projects

  • Provide mentorship to more junior engineers and interact with clients

  • Oversee plan preparation for transportation projects, coordinate work of CAD support technicians

  • Assist PM with technical and financial aspects of projects, as well as marketing within client relationships

  • Communicate with various clients on technical and scheduling issues

  • Communicate internally with design team and across Lochner offices.

  • Other duties as assigned

Who you are:

  • BS Degree in Civil Engineering

  • Must be a registered professional engineer in Kansas or Missouri

  • Minimum 5 years transportation design including roadway, geometrics, and drainage design

  • This role will support our Kansas Design team located in our Lenexa Office.

  • Working knowledge in the preparation of preliminary engineering documents

  • Surface modeling experience with Inroads

  • Effective oral and written communication skills

  • Strong technical knowledge of highway design projects

  • Inroads or OpenRoads Experience

  • KDOT and/or MoDOT experience

  • Ability to contribute and work well on a team

  • Willingness and ability to work-share with other Lochner Offices

Work Environment
